Developing a Personal Relationship with Jesus
Friendship with the divine might sound impossible, yet Jesus clearly states in John 15:15 that He calls us friends, not servants. This transformative truth forms the foundation of today's exploration into developing a genuine, personal relationship with Christ.
What does it mean when the Creator of the universe wants your friendship? Unlike servants who merely follow commands without understanding, friends share in knowledge, purpose, and intimate connection. Jesus desires to make known to us everything He has heard from the Father—offering unprecedented access to divine wisdom and fellowship. This relationship transcends religious ritual, inviting us into authentic communion with God Himself.
Building this divine friendship follows principles similar to our human relationships. It requires quality time in prayer and scripture, honest communication about our struggles and joys, and the consistent practice of abiding in His presence. As we intentionally nurture this connection, we experience the profound reality of having "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). Through obedience born of love rather than obligation, we strengthen our bond with Christ and discover His guidance in every aspect of life.

Developing a Personal Relationship with Christ. Henceforth, I call you not servants, for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth, but I call you friends For all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Welcome to Day 58 of Faith for Every Day on Tamjoy Revival Radio. Today we focus on the heart of our Christian walk developing a personal relationship with Christ. In John 15, verse 15, jesus shares an extraordinary truth. He says Henceforth I call you not servants, for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth, but I call you friends for all things that I have heard of the Father I have made known unto you. These words reveal the depth of intimacy Jesus desires with us. We are not just followers, we are his friends. Let us explore what it means to have a personal relationship with Christ. 1. Friendship with Christ. Being called a friend by Jesus is a privilege. A friend shares secrets, offers comfort and provides guidance. Jesus desires that kind of closeness with us. Proverbs 18, verse 24 reminds us there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. 2. Knowing His Heart Jesus makes known to us the heart of the Father. This is not about religious rituals, but a relationship where we grow in understanding His love, mercy and purpose. Philippians 3.10 expresses Paul's desire to know Him and the power of His resurrection. And three abiding in Him.
Speaker 1:Friendship with Jesus requires abiding in Him. In John 15. 4, he says abide in me and I in you. This means staying connected to him through prayer, worship and obedience. Think about it the relationship in your life the strongest ones are built on time, trust and communication. The same applies to your relationship with Christ. He invites us to spend time with Him. Just as you invest in human friendships, spend time daily with Jesus in prayer and reading his word. Share your heart. Be honest with him about your joys, struggles and desires. He cares deeply for you. 1 Peter, 5, verse 7. Listen to his voice. Take time to be still and listen to his guidance through scripture and the Holy Spirit. John chapter 10, verse 27. Jesus desires to walk through every moment of life with us, offering his wisdom, peace and love. We also grow closer to Christ by obeying His commands. He says in John 14, verse 15, if ye love me, keep my commandments. Our obedience is a reflection of our love for Him and strengthens our bond with Him. Love for him and strengthens our bond with him.
Speaker 1:Today, let us reflect on how we can deepen our relationship with Christ. Ask yourself how much time do I spend nurturing my friendship with Jesus? Pray, ask Jesus to help you draw closer to Him and thank Him for calling you His friend. Commit, take one step today to strengthen your relationship with Him, whether it is through reading a chapter of the Bible, spending time in prayer or sharing your faith with someone else. As you meditate on John, chapter 15, verse 15, remember that Jesus values so much that he called you his friend. What an incredible honor and invitation.
