Waiting Isn't Wasted

Waiting. The very word often makes us sigh with frustration. We picture endless lines, delayed flights, and unanswered prayers stretching into silence. But what if waiting isn't what we think it is?

Today's meditation on Isaiah 40:31 completely reframes our understanding of waiting on God. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." This ancient wisdom reveals a profound truth—waiting in God's economy isn't a punishment or divine neglect. It's an invitation into a different kind of strength.

Think about eagles for a moment. When storms come, they don't frantically flap their wings, exhausting themselves in resistance. Instead, they spread their wings and use the storm's updrafts to soar higher than the turbulence. This is precisely what happens when we wait on God rather than racing ahead with our solutions. We gain perspective. We conserve energy. We position ourselves to rise above our circumstances rather than being beaten down by them.

Perhaps you're in a waiting season right now—for healing, direction, breakthrough, or answers. It might feel heavy, even devastating at times. But remember that God isn't asking you to wait alone or in vain. He's inviting you to wait with Him, close to His heart, where true strength is found. In this sacred space of waiting, He's working behind the scenes, arranging circumstances in ways our limited vision could never imagine. And when the time is right, you won't just survive your waiting season—you'll emerge from it stronger, higher, and ready to run without growing weary. This is the paradoxical power of waiting on the Lord.

Waiting on the Lord. Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31. Welcome to day 169 of Faith for Every Day.

Speaker 1:

Today, we are talking about something that most of us will find difficult, and that is waiting. Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31, gives us a beautiful promise where they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. That is not always how we think about waiting, is it? When we think of waiting, we often picture frustration, delays, uncertainty. But in God's kingdom, waiting is not wasted time. It is preparation time. It is where strength is renewed, faith is built and hearts are aligned with God's perfect timing.

Speaker 1:

Now, let me be honest. Waiting can feel heavy. Maybe you are waiting on an answer to prayer, waiting for healing, waiting for direction, waiting for breakthrough, and the silence can feel like God is distant or uninterested. But Isaiah reminds us that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. God does not ask us to wait alone. He invites us to wait on Him, to stay close, to listen to trust. And while we wait, he is working. Even when we cannot see it, god is arranging things behind the scenes in ways we could never imagine.

Speaker 1:

This verse goes even further. It says that those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles. That is a powerful image. Eagles do not flap around trying to escape storm. They soar above them. And God is saying when you wait on him, you will rise above what is trying to pull you down. You will run and not be weary. You will walk and not faint. That is a kind of strength that does not come from pushing harder or doing more. It comes from trusting deeper. So if you are in a season of waiting, do not rush it. Do not let impatience steal your peace. Instead, learn it, draw near to the Lord, talk to Him, listen to His voice, reset in His promises.

Speaker 1:

Waiting is not about doing nothing. It is about doing the most important things, placing your full trust in God, who sees the end from the beginning. Remember God's timing is never late and when the time is right, you will rise, you will move forward, and you will do it with the kind of strength that only God can give. And you will do it with the kind of strength that only God can give. Thank you for joining me for the 169 of Faith for Every Day. If you are in the middle of a delay or a pause, know this God is still with you, he is still working and in the waiting he is making you stronger than you ever have been. See you next time, and thank you very much for listening.
