Hope can feel fragile when hardship keeps piling up, when the bills won’t stop, the diagnosis won’t change, the relationship stays strained, or the waiting season stretches longer than you can handle. Today we lean into a single promise from Isaiah 40:31 that speaks straight to real life: when we wait on the Lord, He renews our strength. Not a quick pep talk, not forced positivity, but a steady, lasting kind of renewal that meets us right where we are.

We unpack what “waiting on the Lord” actually means, because it’s not sitting still or pretending you’re fine. It’s active trust: depending on God’s timing, bringing Him your honest emotions, and choosing hope even when you don’t see the answer yet. We also explore Isaiah’s three pictures of renewed strength: mounting up with wings like eagles for a higher perspective, running without weary for long-term stamina, and walking without faint for the days when progress is simply taking the next step.

You’ll also hear simple, practical ways to hold on to hope during hardship: speaking honestly with God, returning to His promises in Scripture, letting God’s Word anchor your soul, leaning on people of faith instead of isolating, and remembering what God has already carried you through. If you feel weary today, let this be your reminder that the chapter you’re in is not the end. Hope during hardship. Isaiah chapter forty verse thirty one. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah chapter forty verse thirty one. Welcome to day one hundred and twelve of Faith for Everyday. Today we are talking about hope, specifically hope during hardship. Hardship is something we all face. It can come through sickness, financial strain, strained relationships, or long seasons of waiting. In those moments, it is easy to feel like we are running and empty. But Isaiah chapter 40, verse 31 gives us a reason to hold on, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. This verse is not just a poetic promise. It is a lifeline. Let us take a look at what it means to wait upon the Lord. Waiting here is not passive. It does not mean sitting around doing nothing. It means actively trusting, depending, and hoping in God even when you do not yet see the answer. And what happens when we wait like that? God promises to renew our strength, not just restore what we have lost, but renew, refresh, and strengthen us with something fresh from heaven. Isaiah uses three powerful pictures to describe what happens when we wait in hope. Mount up with wings as eagles. That is about perspective. Eagles soar high above the storm. When we place our hope in God, he helps us see beyond our present troubles. Run and not be weary. That speaks to stamina. Hope in God gives us energy for long haul. Walk and not faint. And sometimes just putting one foot in front of the other is good enough. Hope helps us keep walking even when we are tired or discouraged. So, how do we hold on to hope when hardship feels never ending? Be honest with God. Tell him what you are feeling. God is not offended by your question. He welcomes them. Go back to his promises. Read and meditate on verses that speak life into your situation. Let God's word anchor your soul. Surround yourself with people of faith. Hardship can isolate us, but hope is often strengthened in community. Let others encourage you and pray with you. Remember what God has already done. If he brought you through before, he will do it again. His faithfulness has not changed. Hope does not mean you deny your struggles. It means you choose to believe that God is still good even in the middle of it. It is trusting that He is writing a story with your life. And this chapter is not the end. So, if you feel weary today, do not give up. Wait on God. Trust in His timing and let His strength lift you higher than your hardship. Thank you very much for joining me today on day 112 of Faith for Every Day. May your strength be renewed as you wait on the Lord, and may your heart be filled with hope even in the hardest season. Until next time, walk in faith, rise in courage, and never stop hoping. Thank you very much for listening.
