One verse can reset your whole approach to spiritual growth. We sit with 2 Peter 3:18 and its straightforward challenge: “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” If you’ve been feeling stuck, impatient with yourself, or unsure what “maturity” is supposed to look like, this is a calm, practical reminder that growth is real and it’s meant to be lived day by day.
We unpack what it means to grow in grace, not as a one-time gift we receive, but as a way of life that deepens over time. Grace is God’s kindness, patience, and mercy toward us, and we learn to live it out by staying close to Jesus and letting the Holy Spirit shape our character. That shows up in ordinary moments: choosing patience, practicing forgiveness, and giving others grace even when they don’t “deserve” it.
We also talk about growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, which is more than collecting Bible facts. Knowing Jesus is relational: prayer, time in God’s Word, and walking with Him in everyday decisions. And because real Christian discipleship takes time, we lean into a freeing truth: spiritual growth is not about perfection, it’s about direction. If you need a next step, keep it simple, read a verse, pray a short prayer, and trust the process. Welcome And Theme For Today
SPEAKER_00Hello and welcome to day 144 of faith for everyday. Today we are diving into a simple yet powerful instruction found in 2 Peter 3 verse 18, which says, But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Growth is something we all experience, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual. But here, Peter is not talking about growing taller or getting older. He is talking about growing deeper, growing in grace and growing in knowledge of Jesus Christ. Let's take a closer look at what that really means.
What It Means To Grow In Grace
SPEAKER_00First, Peter says grow in grace. Grace is an is the unearned favor of God. It is his kindness towards us, his patience with us, his mercy that covers our shortcomings. But grace is not something we just receive, it is something we grow in. And how do we grow in grace? By staying connected to Jesus, by being patient with others. The way God is patient with us, by letting His Spirit shape our character day after day. Growing in grace means becoming more like Christ, not through our own strength, but by depending more fully on him. It means giving grace to others too, even when they do not deserve it. And
Knowing Jesus Beyond Facts
SPEAKER_00Peter says, grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is more than just knowing facts about Jesus. It is about truly knowing Him through prayer, through His Word, and through walking with Him every day in life. When you spend time with someone, you start to understand them more. You learn their heart. That is what happens when you spend time with Jesus. You begin to know what matters to him. You hear his voice more clearly. You start to see life through his eyes. Here
Why Growth Takes Time
SPEAKER_00is the truth. Growth is not instant. It takes time, it takes intention. And sometimes it happens through challenges. A tree does not grow overnight. It needs light, water, and deep roots. The same is true for your faith. So ask yourself today: Am I growing in grace? Am I more patient, more forgiving, more loving than I was yesterday or a year ago? Am I growing in the knowledge of Jesus? Do I know Him more today than I did yesterday? And if the answer is not really, that is okay. Because spiritual growth is not about perfection, it is about direction. You
