Waiting can feel like the most personal kind of pressure because it’s where hope meets silence. Today I’m leaning into Isaiah 40:31 and the promise we all want when life slows down: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” If you’ve been stuck in a delay, a pause, or an unanswered prayer, this is a reminder that waiting is not God forgetting you, it’s God forming you.
We talk about why waiting often shows up as frustration, uncertainty, and that nagging fear that nothing is happening. Then we reframe it through a Christian faith lens: waiting on God is not wasted time, it’s preparation time. While we wait, God is working in ways we can’t see, aligning our hearts with His timing and building the kind of spiritual strength that lasts.
Isaiah’s image of eagles takes it even further. Eagles don’t scramble to escape a storm; they rise above it. That’s what trust can do in a hard season. Instead of letting impatience steal your peace, you can draw near to God, talk with Him, listen for His voice, and reset your mind in His promises until strength returns and the next step becomes clear.

Why Waiting Feels So Hard
day. Today we are talking about something that most of us will find difficult, and that is waiting. Isaiah 40 verse 31 gives us a beautiful promise, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. That is not always how we think about waiting, is it? When we think of waiting, we often picture frustration, delays, uncertainty. But in
God Works While We Wait
God's kingdom, waiting is not wasted time. It is preparation time. It is where strength is renewed, faith is built, and hearts are aligned with God's perfect timing. Now let me be honest, waiting can feel heavy. Maybe you are waiting on an answer to prayer, waiting for healing, waiting for direction, waiting for breakthrough. And the silence can feel like God is distant or uninterested. But Isaiah reminds us that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. God does not ask us to wait alone, He invites us to wait on Him, to stay close, to listen, to trust. And while we wait, He is working. Even when we cannot see it, God is arranging things behind the scenes in ways we could never imagine.
Wings Like Eagles In The Storm
This verse goes even further. It says, That those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles. That is a powerful image. Eagles do not flap around trying to escape storm. They soar above them. And God is saying, When you wait on him, you will rise above what is trying to pull you down. You will run and not be weary. You will walk and not faint. That is a kind of strength that does not come from pushing harder or doing more. It comes from trusting deeper.
How To Wait With Trust
So, if you are in a season of waiting, do not rush it. Do not let impatience steal your peace. Instead, learn it. Draw near to the Lord, talk to him, listen to his voice, and reset in his promises. Waiting is not about doing nothing, it is about doing the most important things, placing your full trust in God who sees the end from the beginning. Remember, God's timing is never late, and when the time is right, you will rise, you will move forward, and you will do it with the kind of strength that only God can give.
